BOC NAIA, PDEA, NAIA-IADITG Seize PHP15.572M Worth of ECSTACY (“Party Drugs”) Declared as ‘Clothing and Shoes’

December 16, 2021

The Bureau of Customs – Port of NAIA (BOC – NAIA), the Philippine Drug enforcement Agency (PDEA), and NAIA Inter-agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG) seized 9,160 tablets of Ecstasy (“Party Drugs”) at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City.

The seized illegal drugs concealed in three parcels declared as Clothes and Shoes were discovered through the intensified profiling and examination conducted by Customs Personnel despite being surreptitiously hidden in between spaces of the box containing the subject parcels.

Records further show that the subject parcels originated from Netherlands and consigned to an individual with a registered address in Dasmarinas City, Cavite.

After full inventory, a total of 9,160 ecstasy tablets with estimated market value of Php 15.572 Million were seized.

Thereafter, the seized illegal drugs were immediately turned over to PDEA for further investigation and for a case build up against the personalities involved and their co-conspirators for violations of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Drugs Act, as well as RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

BOC – Port of NAIA has consistently been in the forefront of the country’s border protection efforts against illegal drugs. Records disclosed that the Port had a total of 30 drug busts for 2018, 31 for 2019, and 43 for 2020. For 2021, this is already the 55th drug bust of Port of NAIA. Majority of illegal drugs seized this year were Ecstasy (“Party Drugs”) and shabu.

With the strengthened coordination between BOC and PDEA, BOC NAIA continues to implement the directives of BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero to protect the nations borders from the entry of illegal drugs.
